This building, located in the Capitol Hill Historic District, has three stories and a cellar. It was extensively modernized to meet today's needs while maintaining the historic character of the building. MWA worked with the DC Historic Preservation Office and the L’Enfant Trust to gain approval for the exterior renovations. We renovated the existing street-facing windows, and replaced the fiberglass roof shingles with slate shingles and copper flashing. The rear façade was reconfigured for a symmetrical appearance, and two “juliet” balconies were introduced on the second floor. The interior was extensively renovated and modernized. Interior spaces were reconfigured, and the heating, cooling, lighting, and electrical systems were upgraded. The first floor is ADA accessible. Construction was completed in the Fall of 2020.
